For these purposes a good example is Drum n Bass, fine with the name but in practice it has a more specific meaning than the name itself implies

if u ever wanna trade some DnB let me know! and i agree, when i think of names of genres it doesn't quite get at what the genre is to me. I tend to get more specific-'Neo-Goa Trance' does a better job, as does 'euphoric/cinematic DnB' or 'psychedelic bass' etc

Exactly... this tendency to keep making up more labels is natural. The longer/more esoteric they get, the less other people use or agree with them, but that’s ok, that’s simply the nebulous edge of labelspic.twitter.com/eQqF091n8j
