When will politics reckon more sustainably with emotions? Brexit was a release valve for austerity misery, George Floyd is a release valve for lockdown, Extinction Rebellion is a release valve for existential anxiety etc etc these things don't exist without a huge emotional drive

democratic politics will never reckon with emotions any more sustainably than the populous, in aggregate, can do. non-democratic politics is at the mercy of the moods of whichever tyrant/oligarchy/committee is in charge.

Hmmm I feel like this is not true of other systems like businesses - they tend to do better emotionally than the population on aggregate?
