It’s clear what range of motives might drive black protesters, but the white ones are a question mark to me. Some are sincerely trying to be allies I’m sure, but several present in ways that suggest they’re out for excitement/adventure and the cause is just convenient.
During my homeless time when I was at protests and riots I noticed one character. He was smart and a charmer. Capitalism can only offer sales jobs to that kind of guy. Shirt and tie was too much for him, so he was a charity fundraiser for a while. I met him in a squat tho ... 1/2
And as an activist his skills really shone. He could help galvanise the random rabble and also get girlfriends. Felt like a good cause (it probably was) Perfect really. I remember thinking society was missing a trick by not harnessing his energy very well.
