I wonder if “fixed” is the wrong term here? Considering that all of life is in motion, always “processing,” always in flux, perhaps the “fixing” anything into stasis is fools’ gold? Perhaps something metastable is the way to go? A sea anchor? A loose identity?

And perhaps something like “do no harm” or “life, liberty, and happiness for all” (emancipation) can provide with us a sea anchor or loose identity from which we can act coherently??

Sounds correct! Fixed structures can be useful for a time but are ultimately an illusion. We will probably have to have multiple anchors though as ‘emancipation’ will no doubt turn off a lot of people, rather than inspire.

Right. The term carries different connotations. But I think the image of it as “well-attached” is quite a productive 1—it isn’t too re/prescriptive. & this image of emancipation reminds me of a Lucretian ethics of motion (via Nail) whereby we aim to live & die well, together.
