Haha aight - that's the million dollar question. I'm guessing same old same old i.e. TRAUMA - for some reason lack of agency to change the world -> must change internal things (reasonable man adapts to the world and all that). Too expansive concept of "world"

like there is an interference in stimulus response models when it comes to altering the local environment. something broke. sometimes gets sublimated as altering THE WORLD instead (which then necessarily causes alteration of local environment)

My friend and I considered running classes on "middle class entitlement", because if people we knew acted *more* entitled it would be better. Much like acting with the "confidence of a mediocre white man" can help certain peeps. These are triggers to increase confidence/agency.

Also why I bang on about beds all the time. How you think about your bed seems to reflect how you think about yourself. Tracy Emin really was onto something. If you ignore your bed you're ignoring your being! Get a big bed! Make it clean! Don't let the cat on it! etc
