whole lot of reasons. conventional TV (with ads and stuff) is intolerable to me because of the chopped up format and pervasive hyper-consumerism. streaming TV shows are more tolerable because of lack of ads. just that a lot of shows that I might have liked in the past I don't now

my tastes have changed and my sensitivity to the creative flaws of things I kinda/almost like is higher. I'm generally more satisfied to just put on music and listen then I am to try and force myself to watch B-tier (or lower) TV shows.

I mean...I couldn't get through the last couple of seasons of Game of Thrones, so ad-free A tier shows are not much more tolerable.

I have very high aesthetic standards so I saved myself the latter game of thrones bu refusing to watch after they killed off Oberyn Martell for being a bi man
