Girls get confused when it doesn’t work on other girls lol. At my age though I try to be like “I’m not gonna protect you just because you do bambi eyes in fact I’ll yell, but what YOU ARE gonna do is be your own protection because you’re a badass that can do hard work”

i have a hard time with this because it's mostly used around me in interpersonal situations where girls get hugely offended and i am suddenly the bad guy for refusing to cater to their sensibilities

Well getting used to being the bad guy is also part of it yeah. It’s a role no one wants to have to play, and it’s especially tough if no one even secretly appreciates that you’ve added to the greater good etc. but it’s a muscle you gotta flex if you’re gonna have inner poise

yeah, the world is full of thankless jobs. it's good to be able to find satisfaction in the playing of the role itself, even when the "being a thankless job" part gets bitter, inner strength and all - it just sometimes gets very bitter to see weakness rewarded. meh

It does, it does. Luckily how you feel about this fact in the world is within your domain, it’s inside you and you can work on that. “Choose” to let go feeling bitter, just accept as a fact. Because you’re only hurting yourself? That’s the next job.
