Thread of my semantic pet hates that if I always pointed out would lose me friends. Join in! First up: I hate when people say "tenant", meaning a resident or occupier, when the person means "tenet", meaning a foundation stone of a belief
is "begs the question" really that common? It seems kinda archaic to me and I woulnd't have thought many people would be randomly saying it in meetings etc.

I hear it all the time, most recently from Sean Carroll on his Mindscape podcast with Dan Dennett.

So tell me what the difference is between begs the question and raises the question
