The freedom obsession is a government psyop. Nearly no one wants to lead, nearly everyone deeply years to serve a good master.
Can’t shake the idea (from DC among others) that cultural norms are deliberately created to promote the view on something that is non-intuitive. And that this is good. Like drilling children to look left and right crossing the road because they can’t reason properly on their own

I mean I'm sure all civilisation enhancing behaviours are counter-intuitive (because they're a personal cost taken for the greater good).

agree it's for the purpose of civilisation-enhancing (or perhaps more plainly for large-group-enchancing) ends... and I don't necessarily like the small p patriarchal nature of transmission of some of the norms, but disagree that it's always necessarily at personal cost.

Maybe I should have said react appropriately to non-intuitive danger. Roads are extremely high risk and making a good decision about when to cross requires many factors and kids aren’t born with them. Eg self control (suppress the impulse to run)
