I was learning photography from her the way I learn everything - like a dumb RL algorithm. I would look at somewhere where 'I felt beauty was hiding' and then would try to snap a pic of it. She would then snap hers and we would compare. She was training my eye this way.

I never knew the first thing about photography so was learning the basis: different angles, composition, all sorts of stuff. But that's not the point. The point is what happened at the church.

I didn't really notice I had noticed it then but but noticed a similar thing during the airport line to the plane and, inside of the plane, in the shape of the people in the rows. I could see the front of the plane as the focal point and saw beauty in all of this.
