worth pointing out that sacrificing your soul is super super bad for making money, honestly, and that while parents usually mean well they usually have no idea what constraints and opportunities you actually have and are usually giving you advice that’s decades out of date

When you’re younger and all your peers are in university etc it seems like a big deal. But it’s really not, IMO. If you’re moderately intelligent, you can figure out a way to make a living. This is even truer now than it was when I was in your shoes ~10 years ago
