http://gouletpens.com is good for fountain or other, nicer pens/pencils http://jetpens.com is amazing all around. I built a 3-color multi-pen, a 5-function multi-pen[cil], and got various other less common pens/pencil using their site
General: find what kind of pen you like (ink/gel/biro...) I love Biros and use a Parker brand but the cheap Bic ones are a joy too. Notebooks: avoid ringbound like the plague. Saddle stitched also not durable (staples) I have wavered between hard and soft cover for perfect bound.

how do you rip out pages if no ringbound?

Ringbound degrade fast so depends if you want durability. Some pages rip out even if you don’t want them to (with handling) and the rings get bent and warped, if the end ring gets bad enough every page starts falling off the top hole. I’m a diarist so durability important
