Thank you for replying. Re-Reading the original doc link, I see there is little mention of enlightenment being good for something. But overall it reads as if it’s saying we could /should support more people to be enlightened.

Hey, tangentially you might like this: It’s a very different view of meditation which does not prioritize enlightenment at all, and is non-renunciative, but has lots of intellectual clarity and rigour. http://www.lorinroche.com/benefits/benefits/effects.html …

There's a particular way in which one realizes that there's no difference between an "enlightened" mind and an "unenlightened" mind, in a very specific sense. And, in that sense, nothing has changed. I think that's where this is coming from. But so much changes. It's trollsome.

Ah I just thought of another dynamic that’s going on in the 21st c for serious meditators Questions of metaphysics, afterlife, and the relationship between “enlightenment” and “liberation” Speaking for myself, I’m running a metaphysic & ontology which is essentially physicalist

I’m not particularly concerned that my atman or my mindstream will endlessly reincarnate, unless i through a superhuman effort cut my attachment to this plane by destroying desire Nor am I, tantric buddhist, trying to become a supramundane buddha in one lifetime
