yeah there's a great essay by Lewis Thomas about how humanity is built on imperfections, starting with imperfect DNA replication making happy mistakes, and language being vague lending it to multiple meanings, and so on

Ambiguity as a feature, not a bug. But an honest relationship with and good ideas of the boundaries of ambiguity go a long way.
