What would you recommend as reading to someone (me) who is pretty good at maths and has a reasonable grasp of basic to intermediate statistics but would like to get better at "statistical thinking" in some sense?

In particular I often find myself doing something and then asking myself "Is this a reasonable thing to do?" and not really knowing how to answer that question - I can *justify* it, but I'm not convinced that if the answer were no I'd be able to notice that or explain why.
