And don't get me wrong: certainly deep learning is very useful (and I have been using it increasingly more often). However, I, e.g., have at least one problem where pure DL isn't useful, so when I hear they will solve everything with attention.

Definitely don't wanna be lumped into the "DL solves all" crowd. Wanted to emphasize that fixing the flaws in a system is rarely an armchair exercise in integrating it with the previous system. But saying so doesn't imply the current system is perfect.
