At dinner, crazed person enters a restaurant, downs an entire 40 of beer, threatens staff with violence, goes table to table grabs each patron’s drink and *throws them in their face*. Police called. Never came. There’s only one city in the country where this story could happen.

That’s absurd. They’re different jobs. We need to normalize the idea that criminal prosecution isn’t always the best way to handle public safety matters and it is still the police’s job to ensure safety even if the conduct doesn’t rise to a level necessary to prosecute
