1/10. There are robust frameworks to evaluate the health of mature crypto networks like Bitcoin and Ethereum, but not for early-stage networks that are just getting off the ground. This week #OurNetwork covers this timely topic.

2/10. For starters, the network's consensus system must be working. @BillLaboon covers this for @polkadotnetwork, noting Kusama validators have produced and finalized over 650k blocks, containing 104k transactions and over 118k module events, thus far.

3/10. Delegation can also play a critical role in a validator ecosystem. @chjango notes that @cosmos has seen considerable delegation activity recently, with peak activity on 12/31/19 when 909k $ATOM (~$4m USD) was bonded.pic.twitter.com/2mX5nRQKFI
4/10. Once the blockchain is reliably progressing, it's important to understand how decentralized a network's validation and voting power is, and ideally this improves over time. @chjango notes this has been trending in the right direction lately for Cosmos Hub.pic.twitter.com/K72gkofVzK
5/10. With a secure foundation in place, we can move on to indicators of network usage. The most basic metric of usage is is the # of transactions the network is processing. @tonypham notes that @kadena_io has processed 50k+ transactions over the last 30 days.pic.twitter.com/mHUGE2P1b8

7/10. There are similar KPIs for middleware networks. @evabeylin notes @graphprotocol has seen strong growth in developer activity since Graph Explorer launched in Jan '19. There are over 1k developers with 996 subgraphs deployed, growing at 13% and 23% per month respectively

8/10. Finally, we can look at the ecosystem of other projects building on a given network. I found it to be a strong signal that @NEARProtocol has 13 projects building on its platform despite not even launching mainnet yet, including the following companies:pic.twitter.com/DLcVTsNmZE

Awesome thread. A few more factors worth considering: 1) concentration of asset ownership (tightly held or distributed?) 2) secondary market access and liquidity 3) validator profit/loss measured against network inflation 4) coin supply liquid vs. vesting (impact of inflation)
