Having a convo w my mom recently about body mods, or hearing what was mentioned in Shane’s new Jake Paul doc about sociopathy’s relation to tattoos— it’s freaking important to note, people who modify their body can be mentally well whilst they do it,
This view is currently sorta backwards, considering modifications like pierced ears, small tattoos, plastic surgery, and even circumcision aren’t even slightly taboo. They’re all body mods. (especially circumcision, wtf.)

Piercing ones self is a great experience. Taking the time and patience to stretch those piercings is a great experience. Tattooing oneself, carving one’s own jewelry... These are all extremely rich human experiences relating to adornment, beauty, and customizing your avatar.

Usually folks leave me alone about my visible modifications, and I’m grateful for that if the potential experience could be negative. The idea that I’ll one day regret my modifications is interesting, almost as if people assume we will live forever.

If I get very displeased with one, I can get it modified. If I’m too poor to do that, I will deal with it. I have enough trust in my past, present, and future self to know that it will be ok,

..and to know that it’s a hobby I enjoy, that has taught me/teaches me many valuable lessons related to patience, pain, precision and creativity. It’s related to my body that could die any time. Yes I may end up very old and having body modifications, we’re not the first ones.
