    Well, mystery solved. Turns out the cord was basically broken at the base--probably from how it was stored--and that's what caused the short. My own carelessness for not noticing this was even happening!

    Outside of the Easterlands, Obelisk Markets are ill-regarded, largely on account of the brutal fist-fights that break out between customers. They don't fight over the items --there is no scarcity to be had-- they simply describe a overwhelming, consuming rage overtaking them.

    Obelisk Market isn't even a real store, it's just an obelisk that every that every town has and fresh produce appears at its base every morning just before dawn. There's no cashier and you have to bag your own but local tradition holds that you should leave an offering of blood.

    Up until Covid started infecting hundreds of kids each week, Monroe County released TONS of data. Each day we got a breakdown of new cases by age. They even gave us Covid data by race/ethnicity. NOW, we get a single line with the new case number.

    it's exactly because the subway has hired so many new cleaners that we should reopen most of the bathrooms in subway stations. they've all been closed for years & now there's no reason they need to be anymore. public bathrooms are an issue of classism, accessibility, and dignity.

    ICYMI: MTA still won’t reopen its station restrooms because transit officials want to devote cleaning staff to the daily COVID cleaning regimen on trains, buses, and stations instead

    frustrated to see that NYC schools bought ionizing air cleaners instead of HEPA/Merv filter types. ionization is both less effective and more dangerous (creates ozone) & more expensive ($200 per unit per replacement filter!)
