Welp. I just received a letter from Twitter's legal team notifying me that Devin Nunes' attorney Steven S. Biss has subpoenaed Twitter for my DMs. If any attorneys out there want to help me file a motion to quash I'll buy you a vegan doughnut. How's your Friday going?
For folks asking me to share a copy of the subpoena: There are 21 users/accounts mentioned in the subpoena beyond myself — I wound not want to share my copy of the subpoena before those users have been given the time to be made aware of this.
It is important to underscore that while I (and 21 other twitter accounts/users) are being subpoenaed for our DMs and related correspondence the target of Biss' litigation is Jesselyn Radack (@JesselynRadack), and she is going to need everyone's support.pic.twitter.com/iSXmypyUA1
The plaintiff in Biss' case is Trevor Fitzgibbon, a disgraced former PR exec who recently has been distributing press statements announcing Steven S. While Steven Biss may be hapless, it cannot be ignored that this type of abuse of the civil discovery process, albeit a failure in court, can still create a chilling effect on online political speech.
