Yeah, that’s what Twitter is for! Like/follow people you don’t know on Twitter all you like, but if you don’t know somebody personally, just don’t add them on their personal Facebook accounts... It’s not that hard, is it?
LinkedIn is fine for unknowns, Facebook is only for cool and nice people we've chilled with. I have a public facebook for acquaintances like this so I don't accept and they can still 'follow' me on there and interact.
