The word 'robot' sounds like the russian word for 'worker' I think?

It comes from Czech for "slave" or "serf", so that wouldn't surprise me. The robots here even seem to have RUR on their chests, which would be a reference to the original Czech play.

Right now, though, most "robots" are being used to cut out skilled work in manufacturing, and lots of the R&D is for military applications :-(
