Here's what I don't understand, given: 1. Developers are adopting cloud functions at a staggering pace. 2. Node.js v10 has been out a few weeks and is very popular. 3. Cloud function services are overwhelmingly using Node.js. Yet there isn't a single serverless vendor with v10.

My gut says this has something to do with the obsession cloud vendors have with Enterprise even while most of their growth, especially in these services, is driven by end developers.

It's *not* a technical issue. There are PaaS vendors with v10 support already and it's a lot harder to update the platform in a PaaS than in a cloud function environment.

Why do you say FaaS is harder to update? My gut feeling says the opposite. Idk what runtime optimizations FaaS makes under the hood especially around cold starts. Less of an issue for PaaS.

Fwiw, I've personally had reliability issues with zeit... but I do agree FaaS providers seem unnecessarily slow. There must be some happy medium where runtimes are somewhat current and also reliable.
