Here's what I don't understand, given: 1. Developers are adopting cloud functions at a staggering pace. 2. Node.js v10 has been out a few weeks and is very popular. 3. Cloud function services are overwhelmingly using Node.js. Yet there isn't a single serverless vendor with v10.
Why do you say FaaS is harder to update? My gut feeling says the opposite. Idk what runtime optimizations FaaS makes under the hood especially around cold starts. Less of an issue for PaaS.

Fwiw, I've personally had reliability issues with zeit... but I do agree FaaS providers seem unnecessarily slow. There must be some happy medium where runtimes are somewhat current and also reliable.
