Rittenhouse rye, fee brothers barrel aged bitters, simple syrup, lemon twist. Perfection.

That whiskey is named for a park near my house :)

I know. Bonus points! There may be better base liquors, but that is the best bang for the buck in an old fashioned. It’s what gib’s made them with here in town.
-
Ugh Gibs is so good. I get it with Rittenhouse at my fave bar in Rittenhouse. Cuz that is what they use. Obviously :p I also like Buffalo Trace.
-
I've tried some fancier stuff, super spicey ryes, or high proof things. None of them are as good. A 90 proof medium bourbon is perfect.

Woodford double oaked. It’s a bit of a waste to mix it with anything, but it is so smooth in an old fashioned.
-
I'll mix my fancy booze for science :) I find reg woodford to be a great old fashioned base if I use slightly less simple syrup. Can easily get too sweet.

Buffalo Trace, and recently Rittenhouse Rye, the past two weeks I've been testing bitters as well. Will give Eagle Rare a go.
