Serverless Application Repository: I'm not convinced this will take off. Has potential, but building the community will determine success #reinvent

It’s not, and it’s not supposed to be. The main value to having a “serverless repository” of open source code is ecosystem onboarding, at least that’s our thesis around StdLib sourcecode.
-
so after onboarding people move away from stdlib? are you competing against https://glitch.com/ then?
-
StdLib is about API composition. Providing easy tools to onboard developers to our ecosystem is a win for us, if it encourages people to build APIs and teaches them about FaaS in general. Source repositories are more about *de*composition, breaking things to see how it all works.
-
So it’s a win to be able to provide this functionality, even if there’s not a massive community push behind it yet. There are tens of thousands of developers already shipping to StdLib and hundreds of thousands or more to Lambda. Some % of them find this helpful =

Re: glitch, sure, you could think of us as competitive, but it’s a little disingenuous to both communities. Glitch has done a fantastic job educating developers that we’d be humbled to emulate, we’re working to change how code is written and services are built, full stop.
