My fav part of framework vs vanilla JS twitter fights is the terrible analogies. Running, swimming, farming, baking. This is fun.
This debate is poorly suited for twitter. Both sides are right. Depends on what you are trying to achieve.

If your end goal is get a job as a JS developer, please do not spend any time learning backbone. That's terrible advice.
