I've caught flack before for criticizing npm "It is open source! Send a PR!" "Do you pay for it?" "Write a better package manager"
it baffles me that npm + node 6 is still broken for publishing packageshttps://twitter.com/sindresorhus/status/742866020499660804 …

There may be some legit debate about what is "fair criticism" of npm, but honestly I don't care. Its just broken and that sucks.
-
Imagine building a house and randomly your table saw breaks. Doesn't matter if you found that saw in a dumpster. Still sucks.

The tragedy is that we didn't have to go this route. npm could have been a community funded project. Instead VCs, private corp, etc.

For that I don't blame npm peeps. Our startup/VC obsessed community made it the best available option. I prob would have gone the same route

TLDR npm makes me sad. I blame capitalism. I don't know how to fix it.
