Good for you. Nice to hear it. Given their gushy love for open source, have you asked your bosses where all the open source Windows 10, Sharepoint, Office 365, SQL Server, Azure, etc. code is? I haven't seen it. Have you? Wondering if maybe the love is pretty superficial...

Hey, guy, it's okay to let people be happy with their life and job.
-
I trust you've both watched and thought long and hard about this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YdL7Hch78s … because it's hard to fault.
-
It's very easy to fault, though it is considered and somewhat methodical. It's just the entire angle he takes. Of course if you sit and act shocked at MS properly adopting OSS everything they do with LF sounds either evil or ridiculous.
-
The question is, is MS open washing or have they adopted the principles. Some front line staff have, I believe (community advocates and lot of visible engineers). Has their leadership really done that? We'll see in time.
-
MS is a big company with a lot of internal subdivisions. Many of those recognize the value of open source and are whole-heartedly invested in it. Other divisions are still based strongly on the proprietary software model and aren't likely to change any time soon.
-
Yes, that's putting it much more eloquently! I think it's very much worth collaborating with those that get it, plus they're actually part of the OSS community and it's insulting to paint their efforts purely as open washing.
-
Some ppl assert the proprietary divisions mean we shouldn't collab that closely, esp. not receiving money, as that is used to benefit their work and image too. But the OSS ones want help with money ofc. I'm not sure what leads to the best outcomes for OSS (and FOSS) long term.
