Reflecting on how lucky I was to start my career in a golden age of web development. I arrived just as the tools started getting *really* good, but before you had to worry about your SSR server being compromised, or bricking your entire domain with a Service Worker bug.

Our code ran single-threaded in a sandbox. We were never on call. Our code wasn't even in the data center! The only compute you needed was provided by users! We wrote sloppy code and the JIT made it fast. We didn't worry about 3G because phones could barely send text messages.
