  3. Campfires. The smell of old books. Wool blankets. Poppy flowers. The color goldenrod. Champagne. Snow flurries. Singing. Red lipstick. Finishing a book and never wanting to read another one bc it was so good. Candles. Islay scotch. Winning arguments. Socks. Learning something new

One of the most popular misconceptions about black history is that over time, America has gradually become less racist and more tolerant. That is not true. Since y'all want a BHM thread, here's a thread about the evolution of racism in America.

Been thinking about Malinda Lo’s article on problems facing sapphic books and I can’t help but think of how rarely women in fiction get to be dangerous, vicious, broken with sharp edges that cut outwards not inwards - and be considered *more* compelling and attractive for it.

  15. Felicity: occult fanatic disguised as preppy rich girl, v lesbian, definitely not a killer, likes daphne du maurier and tea Ellis: won a pulitzer when she was 17, "method writer," houndstooth suits and collar studs, black coffee ONLY (art: fantastically talented )

New Lo & Behold: The Invisible Lesbian in Young Adult Fiction — Why is f/f less popular than m/m? Why don't YA books about queer girls get as much buzz or win as many awards? Some thoughts on the culture of misogyny that erases queer girls.
