    In case it isn't incredibly obvious, this is not good for the migrant workers, and nor is it good for local workers. All of us are weakened if a section of us have fewer rights. This is why the likes of Tim wanted Brexit. He wants his workforce divided, churned in & out, weak.

    Exactly this. He'll have his workers. Difference is they won't have rights to settle & build lives here. On non-extendable visas, or facing repeated renewals at huge cost, he'll get to extract that labour, then when time's up Patel will pursue the workers to kick them out again.

    So what can we do now? 1. We urgently need transparency from govt. We can't tackle what we can't see. All data points to rises in infection in school-age children - but govt seems to have suppressed data on variant outbreaks in schools.
