Classic rock and alternative scenes are built on sexism and misogyny. They thrive by keeping women “in their place”
-
There were a slew of goth female musicians who took that "fragile innocent" trope and turned it on its head like Rasputina and Switchblade Symphony. The "dark fairy tale" music /aesthetic was a big thing back in the day.

Some of us only took issue because it was a lot of copy cat wanna be stuff (Speaking of the punk stuff. It was a major point of conention back when punk was big)
-
That was a little before my time lol not much, but a bit. But in general there's always been more condemnation of women who identify with subcultures precisely because they reject traditional standards of what behavior and appearances are acceptable for women.

Because there's nothing more I want than to make myself attractive to misogynists.

Nope. Goth was an offshoot of the Post Punk movement in the late 70s and early 80s. In the 90s it took on the romantic vibe. But it started as part of the Punk/Post Punk movement.

Oddly enough tho the only people I remember viciously bullying me in high school for being goth were other women because I didn't fit their expectation of what a woman should look like.

I support the men's right movement and I I've got absolutely zero problem with those cultures. I actually like them. That doesn't clash with wanting to lower men's suicide rate, men to have reproductive rights, & F on M rape and abuse the be treated like a crime.

You clearly have not seen the women in the men's rights movement... Most of them do not look at all traditionally attractive and many have fashion that is very different from what is traditionally thought of as mainstream.
-
Personally, I would say it is fair to call me a men's rights advocate. And I do not care what you want to put on your face or wear. So long as you don't push anything on me or others, do whatever you want. I can't relate to the effort many put into fashion, however.

People are attracted to who they are attracted to. You decide who you want to attract and go with it. Women always set the acceptance standard in society, even in their niches. Does not mean all women use the same or men desire the same. Claiming Mysogony is a cop out!
