Tbh, I have a hard time distinguishing "you are genuinely wasting time that you could use better" from "you're doing the requisite fucking-around that allows you to recharge and work well later."

I’m yet to see a company culture which embraces the idea that you might have -say- a mere 3 daily productive hours in you.

I think you *need* the other time in order to be productive in the 3 or whatever hours. Whether that time needs to be at the office though, idk

my business model is to carefully prevent my employer from knowing how fast I can actually do things, so that the four hours I spent doing nothing more than "run that one script again, with different parameters" look productive
