I was expecting a terrible non-apology from Stallman, but this is even worse than I thought it would be. #cancelstallmanhttps://twitter.com/theamyshim/status/1172946689553887232 …

Where should the focal point be then? He's offered accountability for the anger caused by his statements, which were very much mischaracterised.
The focal point should be on all of the women and girls he's harmed over the years with his foul opinions. Accountability would be removal from positions where he is allowed access to underage women. He's harmful to teenage girls on MIT's campus.
I seek understanding about the structure of his apology. I'm not claiming to know the negative effects he's had on the world so I'm trying to consider just the statement alone.
Just the apology is about how hurt he is and how everyone was mean to him for using his words against him. I don’t think he was mischaracterized with the exception of people not pointing out that he called Epstein a rapist.
But he also says Epstein (and Minsky) probably weren’t to blame. For it is an uptight society that is wrong, not RMS and his views/actions/statements.
