The studios and streamers really decided to go and pick a fight with us, a hive mind of absolute weirdos with bizarre life experiences whose literal job is to spend all day & night together dreaming up heists, sieges, sabotage and rebellions??
In 2017, WGA negotiations with the AMPTP got to a point where a strike authorization vote was called. It was an extremely strong turn-out. We were in the midst of writing the final season of Halt and Catch Fire.
One of the biggest visual delights of anime films are the stunning background art, and if you ask me, the stand-out piece in "recent" history has got to be Tekkon Kinkreet (2006). Legendary art director Kimura Shinji's work on this film is just ridiculously good & singular -
I called NYC’s district attorney’s office today to demand homicide charges against murderer of Jordan Neely. Spoke to two staffers who dispassionately told me they are ‘investigating’. It’s been nearly 10 years since Eric Garner was murdered on video & no charges were ever filed.
Something I sensed picketing in NYC is American life being the way it is, this is not the first time a lot of us have protested in the streets, from veteran to newer members of the WGA.

1 reason I feel motivated by #WGAStrong is bc disabled ppl in all industries are VERY used to AMPTP message “be grateful for what you get.”
Captions for this meeting? We’ll get around to it. A ramp? Listen, this is just “a few steps up.”
Grateful never solves it. Allies can
"Writers are lucky to have term employment."
-Carol Lombardini, AMPTP
Congratulations Carol, with one quote you wiped out the doubt of every writer who wasn't sure this negotiation really IS so important, that it actually IS about turning us into gig workers.
and I were hit by an aggressive man driving a blue car exiting Uni onto Lankershim. Luckily, we saw him accelerate at us and were able to avoid severe injury, but he definitely hit us & then flipped us off & drove away. (1/3)
Great thread. Straight up you cannot convince me otherwise the assault on the WGA is part of a wider industry trend to set back Black writers and their projects - an attempt to crush so many young careers just getting started and chances to tell their stories.
Highlighting Black writers who sometimes get the shortest end of the stick in this business. Repeating staff levels cause the studio doesn’t want to pay. Having our experiences question. If we don’t get a livable wage, Black writers won’t be able to make
My right forearm is sore which I thought was maybe from something I did riding a motorcycle then I suddenly realized it’s from stabbing the sky with a picket sign like it was a bastard sword at the Battle of Bannockburn
Like can someone at the AMPTP sit negotiator Carole Lombardini down in a free meeting and explain that screenwriters solve budget problems and save studios money allllllll the damn time??
What’s so fucking insane about this on top of how insulting it is… Is this works against them making good tv series! This is something they need to get right for themselves, not just for quality’s sake but for budgets and relationships with actors. This is bugfuck!
This went underreported, but the gasp I let out when it was revealed that, instead of agreeing to pay writers to be on set as had been standard practice for decades, AMPTP offered a lottery-based *unpaid internship* to shadow the SR, for LA-based productions #WGAStrong#WGAStrike

“Uh, this is super embarrassing, and I really hate to do this, but if you’ve got a few minutes, I’d be honored if you could give this a read,” said the 10-foot-tall inflatable rodent. https://bit.ly/422I3EK
WGA members picketing in New York today shut down production on American Horror Story at Silvercup Studios with support from fellow union members in IATSE and Teamsters, who refused to cross the picket line.
On Day 2.
We're just getting started. #writersstrike#wgastrong
During the 2007 strike I was an assistant at 20th TV and the heads of the studio told us all “we don’t care if you support the writers but the honking is driving us crazy, you’re fired if you honk” so when you drive by remember to lean on that horn in support.
Hey Y’all.
All you Rachel Brosnahan, Oscar Isaac, Miriam Silverman, or Lorraine Hansberry fans.

"Fuck Eric Adams" - chant protesters as they disrupt train service on Manhattan platform, following Jordan Neely's death by a choke-hold from another subway rider on the MTA.

Shameful to see the NYPD oppressing the people of NYC assembling asking for justice for the murder of a Black person again, blocks from our strike. Our mayor is a disgrace.
Today the NYPD’s Strategic Response Group brought force and chaos to a vigil for Jordan Neely.
This militarized unit has no place in our communities, at vigils, or at protests. It must be disbanded. twitter.com/taliaotg/statu…
There were some kind young people today with a #PreWGA sign who came to support our strike who were handing out snacks & water. People who mock PreWGA are cynical assholes. Part of the reason we have to fight so hard to earn what’s fair is this is work we all dreamed of doing.
I owe Reyna for my Scorpion King crew hoodie but I have to tell people occasionally I did not really work on the Scorpion King, but Nope is one of the best movies of 2022
If anybody has video of when Nialla LaBeouf a writer on Evil and I rode up to the picket on a motorcycle and when we wouldn’t stop honking our horn and everyone in the picket line went wild outside David Saslav’s NYC office I would appreciate it
