Goggles show real search innovation (Big Tech in monopoly phase, tying their businesses together, is the opposite of innovation). A Goggle is a URL-addressed file of adblock filter syntax for re-ranking the index to suit your or your community's needs. github.com/brave/goggles-

Unlike Google + Bing, Brave Search doesn’t manipulate its algorithm to bias or down-rank results. However, all search engines have some level of intrinsic bias. Goggles gives you the power to search without these limits. Try Goggles (in beta) today! search.brave.com/goggles/discov

I feel like Goggles is the biggest innovation in search in the last decade. Lean left or right? Want certain kinds of results? Pick your biases, don't allow others to pick it for you. Share and collaborate on Goggles too!

"DuckDuckGo and Bing are not true alternatives – they’re just worse versions of Google." See how Brave Search is innovating with an independent index, privacy, the Web Discovery Project, and upcoming Goggles 🥽 in "The Next Google."

Some folks seemed to equate legally mandatory search results removal with censorship AKA "editorial downranking" (ED) in the Search super-thread yesterday. Here I enumerate four categories of law with which we comply. Again, we do not censor or ED.

Here's the answer (no details, in case anyone watching is trying, e.g., to circumvent CSAM ban): We comply with laws governing search engines. Four categories: * CSAM * Copyright takedown (DMCA) * Right to be forgotten (GDPR) * nation-state orders (see twitter.com/BrendanEich/st).

One year ago, we acquired Tailcat, the foundation of our search engine. Last June, we launched Brave Search. Last week, Brave Search passed 10 million daily queries, which annualizes to over 3.4 billion queries. Turns out users really want privacy and independence in search.

Long time fans: if on another search engine; please check Settings / Search engines. pick Brave Search. We have not forced long term users to new default; we are user-first. If you start a new profile then default is Brave. We’ll prompt older users to change default, soon.
