A 9th grader from Huntsville, Alabama. Nigel died by suicide after experiencing relentless bullying at his school. 74% of LGBTQ youth report not feeling safe in the schools they attend. We have to do better for LGBTQ youth.

I guarantee you the adults in the school knew Nigel was being tormented and did nothing to stop it. They are just as guilty as the bullies that caused this young man to take his own life.

Absolutely 100% and they’re worse than bullies because everyone knows the only thing worse than a bully is a bystander who doesn’t do anything to help.

This is just sad. He didn't deserve that hate, he had his whole life ahead of him. I hope those who bullied him are held accountable for their actions. This harassment has to stop.

this is heartbreaking. i’m openly bisexual and ive heard kids that i’ve grown up with say “isn’t that the lesbo” right in front of me. i rode my bike past a kid that chanted “gay is not ok” on the school bus and recorded it just in case. i keep my head down while in school...

bc i’m afraid of making eye contact with some kid who might say something. i’m afraid everyday, and not even my parents care. no one cares abt us, thats why stuff like this happens. i hope he rests in peace and feels safe in heaven. fuck anyone who bullied him.

I know it sounds cliche by now sweetie but it DOES get better. Fight for your life, find a way to survive middle/high school HELL and get yourself to a bigger city and liberal college and/or job. It is like night and day, I swear on my soul - you can do it and you are worth it.
