So you stand by deeming al-Qaeda "the Syrian resistance" and your claim that Russia uses barrel bombs?

I’ve never said al Qaeda was the resistance. And you continue to twist my words to fit your propaganda.

Here's your quote: "You have various factions of the Syrian resistance, some of which are directly related to or are actually al-Qaeda institutions." How exactly should I interpret that other than an endorsement of al-Qaeda?https://twitter.com/dancohen3000/status/977279917405720578 …

Some really revealing talking points from @JeremyScahill. Here refers to al-Qaeda as "the Syrian resistance" and condemns "Russian barrel bombs." (Russia doesn't use barrel bombs, what is he talking about?) pic.twitter.com/LEYh1sykld

This is just the perfect example of how atrocious and ill-willed of a propagandist you are. Taking an accurate description I offered and ascribing a position I didn’t take. Go away.

Do you think it's accurate that people on the left are against regime change because they hate America?https://twitter.com/dancohen3000/status/977280176634593280 …

Why are you running away from your own words? You said Trump and Kim Jong Un both presented an equal threat to the world. That should be embarrassing for a left wing journalist.

To be fair, both Jeremy & Mehdi stated their opposition to US regime change in Syria. But I worry that they, along with many others, are way too dismissive of the damage the US did by funding death squads in Syria, which should not be characterized as resistance to anything.

R: I certainly gave no endorsement of AQ by using the term resistance. I’ve talked about those very forces before w different terms. What that guy is doing is twisted. I’ve been consistent in my position, including the role the US played in supporting horrid ground elements.

I’m not suggesting you endorsed AQ, but I do think the convo around Syria is totally warped and that no one really understands what took place on the ground there largely bc the reporting out of Syria has been terrible & like I mentioned, debate & discussion has been suppressed

Anyone who pretends they are anti-regime change while bashing the Syrian state’s efforts to annihilate terrorists is, in effect, pro-regime change and supportive of Al Qaeda and other terror groups. As the FSA once said: “We are all Nusra.”
