I hope there is time dilation, just because it's the most satisfying way to pay off the Scarlet propaganda. A "Menethil" puppet on the throne of a restored Lordaeron could be interesting, especially as the pamphlets say they want Genn on board too. Time skip works best for this.

It'd be perfectly reasonable to tell that story without time dilation, though. They don't need a huge amount of time to get Turalyon and Genn on board with a coup. Each expansion is at least two years in universe, so a lot can happen while we're away.

That's true, but if the state of Lordaeron hasn't improved in the last two years... I don't know how long it'd take to clear blight, or how old this "Menethil" would be now, but I like the idea of it having been a decade or so, just to give a really clear "things having changed".

The thing that goes against all this, for me, is that we have portals in Oribos, so we are canonically going back and forth. It'd take a big change in the last patch of SL where we get thrown somewhere "deeper", or something, in my view, maybe by the Arbiter?

The fact that we're going back and forth at all between the mortal realm and the shadowlands should be proof enough? Like, I get it that mechanically we have to be able to for the game to function, but even being "trapped" by Azshara wasn't an actual trap, we got out super easy

So, there's no reason to believe that time isn't happening normally. As for the state of Lordaeron and the Menethil "heir"... the former doesn't matter because the undead are the only ones with a stake in it, and Calia clearly isn't worried about it. the latter... Pure Hearsay.

Yeah, I'm agreeing with you that right now, with us going back and forth, there aren't any time shenanigans happening. I just think it's a missed opportunity, and there's the potential to still do it at the end of the expansion if Blizzard wanted to, via a scenario or something.

Game mechanics are not always consistant with the lore. 1) Do you remember that AU Draenor was separated from MU Azeroth and they needed the dark portal to cross into our time? Well that doesn't make any sense with the portals easily available in both faction hubs near Ashran.

2) Do you know how the Maw is inescapable but we can hearth any time we want or use the portable wormhole generator or use any mage portal or be summoned by a warlock and two friends?

3) Do you recall that we killed Arthas how many years ago but I can roll into ICC tomorrow and take another stab at Invisible?

All valid points. I'm not 100% sold either way - I definitely want there to be a time skip, and I definitely think there could be one - but I would really prefer any explanation to account for the portals we've established and which lore characters are using.
