That has nothing to do with the private security guard. I have never and likely never will live in SF proper (East Bay boy). The residents that elected Boudin will either replace him, or decide they're OK with the new status quo.

Of course it does. Why would a private security guard risk his life to stop a crime that won’t be prosecuted?

As I said: it's policy at most major retailers to not detain/prevent theft. Whatever the actual law/police do is irrelevant to the security guard's employment contract and the policies he/she must follow. Or do you think they should be risking their employment?

Not following your logic.

The security guard is a private employee of Walgreens. If the company policy is that they shall not detain or prevent theft, then the guard is doing the job as they are instructed. Doing otherwise risks their employment with Walgreens/the private security firm.

Walgreens has already closed several locations. It is absolutely due to high theft.

Shockingly, Walgreens “policies” don’t override law

Perhaps if they(Walgreen) hired decent security the homeless bicycle bandit would be caught and charged with something instead of a photo opp. We the people are more concerned about the take over of the Capitol on Jan. 6. Walgreen need to handle it's business.

You mean change policy to allow private security to detain alleged perpetrators per CA BSIS policies.
