I goofed in yesterday’s SmartGo One update: for some users, New Game would always create a computer game. Sorry about that. Workaround: edit the game info to change the SmartGo player name. Fix is on its way.

Small UI tweak in SmartGo One 1.0.2 in response to questions about how to start a game: added ‘Play Computer’, simplified ‘New Game’, and the first few times you’ll see a hint to tap + to play. Not perfect, but should make this less of a stumbling block.

While new books will be added in Go Books as well as SmartGo One, just a reminder that book announcements will be mainly on . For example, you don’t want to miss two out-of-print books by Sensei Yang that were just added.

Thanks to everyone who has given SmartGo One a rating, or even left a review – very helpful. If you have not gotten to it yet: in SmartGo One, choose Settings > Leave Review, tap on a star to rate, Send, and you’re done. (Then do the same for all your other favorite indie apps.)

Working on fixing a bug in SmartGo One where the back button disappears on iPad in portrait view. Workaround: Rotate to landscape and back again. Or swipe from left edge at the top navigation bar.

TIME LAPSE: I-80 in Salt Lake City was closed so crews UDOT could demolish an old bridge and install a new one. The closure only lasted the weekend, though. Want to see how they got it done so fast? Check out this video from UDOT!

As an all-new app, SmartGo One starts from scratch with ratings and reviews. And some people will rate it 1 star to protest the switch to subscriptions. If you like the app, a rating (or even review) would be much appreciated. You can use Settings > Leave Review in the app.

Current ratings for SmartGo One: 2x5-star and 1x1-star, average 3.7.

Switched to using for tracking software tasks. The various To-Do list apps I’ve used for this over the years never quite fit for software development. So far, Linear is just what I’ve been looking for.

The obvious place to start on this puzzle. Would be better if it wasn’t an impossible go position, but the mice may have moved some stones.

No FaceID on the Studio Display, unfortunately. Works fine when connecting a laptop, but need one of Apple’s keyboards with Touch ID when using the Mac Studio?

I had no idea a go game was the inspiration for QR codes. (Extremely niche tweet of interest to approximately 0 other people.)
