Look at the history of journalism. This is nothing new. The period of Yellow Journalism led to the industry self policing and establishing standards. It will play out again. Every generation thinks it’s problems are the worst, but it’s just the cycle of history repeating.

Can't ignore the fact that these platforms allow anyone, to say anything...to anyone else with no oversight! Even TV stations & news outlets have regulations to abide by.

Most don't though. Twitter has terms of use. People wouldn't be constantly rebuilding accounts if they were never applied plus countries that have rules about what their citizens can express ( like hate ) on the net can and do prosecute.

I think people need to be educated about that in a proper way. For example about that bots on Twitter and Facebook exist. That trolls get paid etc. In the end it's user generated content. Get the users right and you will get the content straight.
