    This is the correct take about Fox’s shameful pushing of Seth Rich’s family. That advertisers were still willing to do business with this network after this chapter is unbelievable.

    But let's be clear about all this: Fox News's propagation of this conspiracy theory was one of the most heinous acts in media of the 21st Century. The fact that they fought the Riches in court for more than two years is an outrage of comparable magnitude.

    We don’t spend enough time talking about how Fox News terrorized the Rich family.

    There's notice of a settlement in the suit of Joel and Mary Rich against Fox News et al. for infliction of emotional distress over the network's retracted promotion of the Seth Rich conspiracy theory.

    Don’t forget that has played a large part in building OAN’s audience and recommending their videos. With COVID, disinformation leads to lives lost. If doesn’t take this seriously, they’re incredibly complicit.

    OANN has 1.2 million subscribers on YouTube.

    Oh lord. Yet another example of not only screwing advertisers, but publishers as well. How can an outlet like maintain factual credibility when they’re advertising merchandise for the largest conspiracy theory in the world?

    Hope the Rich family can find some peace in this. Would imagine that this is just one of many lawsuits that are coming to Fox after the baseless conspiracies and COVID disinformation that they’ve aired over the last few years.

    The family of murdered Democratic staffer Seth Rich have settled their lawsuit against Fox News over its conspiracy theories about his murder. Terms of the deal aren't publicly disclosed.

    The idea that tech companies have no control over how their products are used comes from the dated concept that tech is somehow neutral. It also doesn't jibe well with how the tech industry has spent millions restricting how their tech is used through licensing and digital locks

    Interesting though I don’t know what “bad for the world” means, exactly. Would I say content about hospitals overwhelmed by COVID was “bad for the world”? Yes! Do I think it’s important that it’s widely shared? Also yes!

    Facebook also ran tests this year to figure out if “bad for the world” content could be demoted in users’ feeds. It could, but there was a problem: it decreased the number of times users opened Facebook.
