Agreed. Any trend data without some real zooming in, followed up by solid segmentation is misleading at best.

We (Adobe) had data about number of apps and percentage of those apps that where either Cordova or PhoneGap. When I left percentage was climbing [20% of the app store] but totals had stalled. Apps themselves haven't been growing for a while. Cc

There are other effects here too: in EM, on low-end devices, many users install/use/uninstall apps on a loop. Space is at a premium on MANY devices.

Wealthy users don't see or understand this effect because it isn't their lived experience. Tech press is basically blind to EM needs/constraints.

Yes and reporting "downloads" is hella different than bare aggregates. Each store probably only sees 100k new apps a year.
