A mountain of work to do here — blocking ads, scroll events, etc. To get into one particular thicket of weeds... enormous amounts of script are dedicated to reflecting data -> DOM. So hard to do well. Oh for a way to declare DOM tree, and have platform performantly patch.

I can't grok why it's so hard to convince management that this majority of the world matters. Or just us on trains, for that matter. "We're doing North America first" or "Europe first" is too common an argument.

Many devs I've met since moving to the Bay area seem to hate web development and prioritize their experience over their users. The littlest challenge: throw megabytes of script at it! No need to optimize, it's premature. I can't help but feel it's a self-fulfilling prophecy.
