We *obviously* said no. Pressing on the reasons they wanted it, we got flimsy stuff back. This whole ecosystem is dirty af and each BigCo that crosses a line enables the next.

I wonder if these native app permissions scandals will make PWAs more appealing to the average consumer in the long run. (I still find it difficult to explain PWA vs. Native to most people though.)

Our goal with new web capabilities has been to keep the user in control (to the extent it's possible to explain what's happening). If we add some of these things (e.g. Contacts), they'll be different than today's native platforms.
