People built these CLA policies a decade ago when companies demanded them. They will accept a DCO instead nowadays because Linux has normalized it.

If it's a DCO vs. CLA debate, meh, whatevs. If it's nothing vs. something, then nothing is clearly malpractice.

I'm not, these are very separate, and you can accomplish what a CLA does with the DCO and avoid all the bullshit. It is literally the same thing Linux does.
