I often do the tedious task of jumping out to Safari, mostly to get to Reader Mode or to save a bookmark. The FB app has the “open in” option in the upper right corner for some pages and lower right for others.

Not trying to defend this particular instance but the lack of 3rd party browser engines and painful app switching makes this less clear-cut than on Android.

Whatever the cause, I've re-learned that FB is a desktop-only experience for me. Also doesn't constantly download 100MB+ for something I use occasionally.

The mobile web version (which was perfectly functional) has been going through feature removal over the last couple years. (Especially on iOS) Never have I seen any service do this.

Facebook's goal as always been to displace as much of the internet as possible. You are the product they are selling advertisers, they'll do anything they can to keep your eyeballs scrolling to see more ads.
